Weddings are more than just events; they are magical celebrations filled with emotions and cherished memories. The last moment before you climb into your wedding dress you share a giggle with your favorite friends. Below you see the picture of this bride realizing her day has arrived and she is going to get dressed for her first look. These fleeting moments happen over and over again on your day and deserve to be captured, transforming them into a timeless love story.
Choosing the right photographer transforms your wedding into memories. As an established wedding photographer its so much more than taking pictures. I weave a narrative through my lens. My skill lies in waiting for the moment that all of the things align to capture emotions and the little, overlooked moments that paint the compelling story of your day. I believe it is a combination of candid AND posed photos that make the most compelling wedding albums.
The First Look: A Moment Just for You where NOTHING is posed.
My job is to put you in good light and let YOU do the rest. Richard came right out of the church ready to see his almost wife. He was so excited that he walked with speed and intention. Totally unscripted.
If we met at a recent wedding expo you have probably heard me talk about the first look. I do NOT have a preference for you to choose, love or hate the idea. The reason we talk about it is because the real reason it was created is important to consider. The first look offers an intimate moment to share your feelings before joining your guests. This private time allows for emotional authenticity and beautiful photographs that capture the raw reactions of seeing each other for the first time. BUT all of this aside, do you want to be at your cocktail hour and reception with your favorite people?
You are going to spend the largest part of your budget on the reception and time after the ceremony. After you pick out your hors d'oeuvres, signature drinks, decor, etc. YOU (your parents) want to experience this with your guests. Seeing your guests be wowed by your champagne wall, your pet napkins, the amazing food, and enjoying each other is a gift.
This is the reason that the FIRST LOOK was invented. Couples use it for all kinds of reasons but it all boils down to YOU being able to enjoy MOST if not all of your reception time. First looks are code for front loading your timeline so that you have time to enjoy all of the details of your day along side your guests.
